Starting Another Year by Robin Trimingham
Yes I do realize it’s August, but it is also the third anniversary of our Facebook page and there are a few brave souls among you who have supported Olderhood faithfully for this entire time and I thought was reason enough to celebrate.
During this time you have witnessed us learning how to podcast, start a Facebook group, videocast, Instagram, Tweet (we still haven’t mastered this one), Pinterest, Skype, webcast (still learning this one too) and Linked In. You have recommended us to your friends and every last one of your cousins. You have been kind when things worked, and more patient than we probably deserved when they didn’t. In all of that time I don’t think we have ever received a negative review and for that I thank you.
Steve Jobs once said “the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do”. I really identify with these words and it makes me hope that if we stick at this long enough maybe “Olderhood” will become a household word and maybe we can improve retirement life for people everywhere. That is a pretty big dream and who knows how it will all turn out; but if the last three years are anything to go by, then it’s going to be quite a journey.
In the next few weeks we will be starting to give some public presentations here in Bermuda and we will also be airing another local television series on retirement issues and retirement lifestyle planning.
I am also excited to announce that our new book “The Third Journey”, which Bill Storie and I co-authored will be available for sale later this fall. This non-fiction book focuses on how to make a successful transition from work to retirement, and how to build a fulfilling lifestyle that will sustain you for many years in the third phase of your life. We will let you know how you can pre-order a copy once the actual publication date is confirmed.
In the interim we will continue to send quality retirement information available to you through our diverse online platforms. Please encourage your friends to follow us on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/Olderhoodcom/. The larger our network grows, the better partnerships we will be able to form and more information and opportunities we will be able to bring to you.
